Cotton Fleece is a wonderful, blend of 80% Pima Cotton and 20% Merino wool. It has the softness and care characteristics of cotton, but with both warmth and elasticity. It is a year-round yarn, good for both summer and winter (except probably in Alaska), and the finished article holds its shape, and won't stretch like cotton. It has excellent yardage, with a 100 gm skein giving 215 yards. An average woman's sweater takes 6 skeins. This has become one of our staple yarns. Our customers have told us again and again they loved the result, and loved working with it. It knits as a DK or light worsted weight yarn. Gauge is 5 stitches/inch on a US #6 needle. Also excellent for baby and children's wear. It will not shrink, and washes well in the machine. Its care tag says to hand-wash, and that is a good idea for adults, because it will fade more than either cotton or wool if washed in a machine, but children seldom wear the garment long enough for fading to be a concern. |
