| A small explanation of circulars for the newbies who are checking in. All those who know all about this stuff can motor on. Circular needles are two needles attached by a cord, allowing you to knit in a continuous circle. They come in different lengths for different purposes. The smaller ones are for knitting smaller diameter items. You can knit a larger circle on a smaller needles, but not a smaller circle on a larger needle. Normal sweater-length circulars are 24-32" in length. Only go larger than that if you are knitting something that will be over 60" around. For those of us who knit full-size shawls, lace tablecloths, and other large items, we stock up to 60" lengths. The 16" lengths are the hat or sleeve size, with the 12" for those who want really small circumferences, and hate double-points. The discussion on the types of materials goes for the circulars. Many of us prefer slicker circulars than straight or double-point needles, since we have less trouble with dropped stitches on circulars. |

INOX Xpress circular needles The nickel-plated needles are slick. They are built for speed for the good knitter who doesn't have the stitch-dropping problem. You can generally knit up to a third faster on the slick nickel-plated ones relative to other types of needles. Because they are metal, they are colder to the touch, and people who have problems with their hands may find their hands ache more. The Turbo needles are generally considered the best of their type on the market, in terms of both their finish, their flexibility, and their connections. I find the INOX Express to be close to them in performance, and considerably less expensive.
