JaggerSpun Zephyr

JaggerSpun Zephyr is a blend of 50% tussah silk, and 50% fine merino wool.

For Knitting:

It is an elegant yarn for lace knitting, and can be doubled to use in place of such yarns as Alice Starmore's Scottish Heather, or Rowan's Lightweight DK. If doubled, it knits the same as Jamieson & Smith's jumper-weight shetland wool. It is a smooth yarn with a shine to it.

As a sock yarn, the 2-oz skein will knit one pair of socks if doubled (which gives standard sock yarn gauge of 28-30 st/ 4 inches), and two pair if used single (on size 0 needles). Because of the amount of silk in this yarn, it will not usually shrink. I wash it on gentle cycle, warm/cold, and have not had problems with it. On the other hand, Margaret Heathman has accidently sent hers through with the regular family wash & dry, and ended up with baby socks.

For weaving:

As a weaving yarn, it is exceptionally strong for its size, and can be used both for warp and weft. It dents at 18-20 e.p.i. A 2 oz skein contains 620 yards. Three skeins will easily weave a 24" wide stole, 72" long.
